Abstract

While an economy may be content with growth of multinational companies and e-commerce giants within its borders but a society needs much more than just that. The social capital of India needs to be harnessed and channelised in order to solve the maladies that have plagued the country. Despite the dedicated efforts of the government, the sanitation sector continues to be plagued by various bottlenecks. To overcome these, a string of social entrepreneurs is engaged in revamping the sanitation for India's poor. These ventures of social entrepreneurship may not necessarily be carried out through an enterprise. A civil society or any other type of business may, through its effort of corporate social responsibility, engage in finding solutions to problems affecting the society as a whole.
