The study aimed at establishing how effectively utilisation of social media could enhance the control of corruption in the Nigerian public service. A survey research design was utilised and guided by the theoretical tenets of institutional and instrumental approaches via ‘internet freedom’. The study population consisted of 400 citizens from the four purposively selected public institutions in Ogun State. Random sampling method was adopted in selecting 284 respondents. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square test of independence were utilised on the basis of the itemised questions using a five-point Likert rating scale. Findings indicated that with the dedication of an organised agency handling reported cases of corruption through the social media, in collaboration with civil society groups, the social media can assist in curbing different forms of corruption practices in the Nigerian public service.
