Abstract

Bangladesh is a land of great promise. However, her due progress is being held back by corruption. It is a bare fact that countries like ours are kind of engrossed in corruption. Some institutions are in place in the country to combat corruption. However, only lip service still dominates the show in terms of fair execution of anti-corruption measures. Though ethical standards abound in almost every vocation, maintenance of the same, perhaps, has not yet been able to make the grade in the developing countries, with the developed ones rather ahead in their efforts to maintain and sustain the same. This article is an attempt to discuss the issues of corruption and ethical standards in the context of Bangladesh. In absence of much research work on the issues being discussed, observations based on perceptions have been used extensively in the article. The author has, however, the conviction that the perspectives made in this article reflect the reality to a great degree.
