Assistant Professor,
The Union Digital Centre is a place where government and commercial e-services are provided to grass root people. With the expansion of Information and Communication Technology based service delivery functions of UDCs have been increased to a larger extent. The centres collectively represent an important nexus for e-service delivery of rural people. For sure UDCs have created new prospects in public service delivery incorporating a good deal of service recipients. Also there are some issues and challenges and these are not identical everywhere. UDCs are expected to have adequate infrastructure facilities, more human resources in densely populated areas, comprehensive training for entrepreneurs, proper monitoring and provision of free service delivery for extreme poor people. Despite having a number of issues citizens are moderately pleased. Measures like trouble shooting, functional adoption of technology and sufficient awareness strategy can ensure efficiency and more satisfaction among local citizens.
