Abstract

This paper explores problems and prospects of unirrigated agriculture in Tamil Nadu. The paper gives the details of district wise unirrigated agriculture in Tamil Nadu. Besides, the study identifies the major problems in production, cropping pattern and crop diversification, availability of institutional credit and crop insurance schemes. The paper suggests that effective implementation of watershed development projects, ease in access to credit and modernization in crop insurance policies for achieving sustainable production in unirrigated agriculture.
