Abstract

This paper examines the trends and patterns in the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows into India during the post-liberalization period. The study shows that the actual inflow of the FDI into the Indian economy had maintained a fluctuating and unsteady trend during the study period. In the context of increasing competition among nations and sub-national entities to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), the present paper tries to analyze the emerging trends and patterns of FDI inflows into India. The empirical analysis tends to suggest that the FDI inflows, in general, show an increasing trend during the post-reform period.
