The role of entrepreneurs is of vital importance in a developing country like India. It has been found that majority (63.33%) of dairy and poultry entrepreneurs (70%) are in the middle age group. 60 per cent dairy entrepreneurs are in the primary to middle whereas 53.33 per cent of the poultry entrepreneurs are in the middle levels of education. Rajputs are the leading caste dominating others in both dairy (70%) and poultry (40%) enterprises. It has been found that that the social participation is low and more than 90 per cent of the entrepreneurs have individual ownership. It has been also found that the ‘economic security’ is the main motivating factor for the entrepreneurs, whereas the motivational factor viz., ‘accepting the enterprise as a challenge’ has been considered least by the entrepreneurs. However, the main motivational source to start the venture has been found to be ‘self motivation’ in case of poultry and ‘family members’ in case of dairy entrepreneurs. The avenues for social participation and training for entrepreneurs are calls for the day for creating successful entrepreneurs in the study areas.
