Abstract

Education is considered as a complete system for whole-round development of a child by Sri Aurbindo. His ideas about education have shown a ray of hope to evolve a comprehensive philosophy of education in India. He had suggested having a fine tuning and synthesis between spiritual and materialistic aspects of life. It requires a complete harmony and synergy amongst development of the body, development of the life energy and development of the mind which constitute the human self. In order to educate a child the self has to be understood and accordingly content, methods and ways for teaching should be devised. The existing system of teacher education is required to adapt a new direction and shape to respond to the needs of integral education by assuring the development of holistic teachers.
