Abstract

Positive mental health and emotional intelligence are two core rudiments of psychological wellbeing. These two stipulations play an imperative role in determining life success. The present study was designed to examine gender difference in emotional intelligence and mental health among students of 21st century. It also aims at examining the nature and extent of relationship that exist among these two dimensions. The sample consisted of 60 subjects (30 males and 30 females) within the age bracket of 20–24 years. The sample was administered the modified version of the Emotional Intelligence Scale (Bhattacharya, Dutta, & Mandal, 2004) and the Mental Health Inventory (Jagadish & Srivastava, 1983). The results reveled that the two gender group differs significantly in the mean scores on the variables. The findings have been discussed in the illumination of existing empirical and theoretical literature.
