Metacognition of science stream B.ed. student teachers in relation to their academic achievement at graduation level

Abstract

The Present study examined the correlation between Metacognition and Academic Achievement of Science stream B.Ed. Student –Teachers at graduation level. As a sample 100 Biology and Mathematics B.Ed. student-teachers were selected randomly from the population taken under study. MetaCognition was measured using MetaCognition Inventory developed by Dr. Punita Govil and the aggregate percentage of marks at graduation level was considered as Academic Achievement. Results indicated Significant Positive correlation between ‘Knowledge of Cognitive process’ component of Metacognition and academic achievement, between ‘Regulation of Cognitive process’ component of Metacognition and academic achievement as well as between Total Score of Metacognition and academic achievement of Science stream B.Ed studentteachers at graduation level. The study recommended to conduct more researches on Metacognition so as to Catch its More practical aspects in the field of Education at different levels.
