Although bilingualism is not a new phenomenon but bringing both bilinguals and monolinguals in one research to see which group is better English as a foreign language learner is something rarely considered. In this research, we considered two groups of students learning English as a foreign language in Iranian state run high schools studying in their third grade in Shadegan. In one group we had 50 monolingual Persian speaking students while in the other we had 50 Arabic/Persian bilinguals. After analyzing their results of final English language standard exam we found that Persian monolingual students learn English as a foreign language better than Arabic/Persian bilinguals.
