Teacher education is apparently a specialised as well as a dynamic activity, directed at providing the necessary apparatus, to equip the prospective teachers with knowledge, attitude and skills for effective role performance in the society. The current study examines the attitudes of secondary pre-service teachers towards their teacher preparation curricula. A sample of 100 pre-service teachers of an affiliated college of GGSIPU was assessed for their attitudes using a five point Likert type questionnaire having 70 questions which were categorised in 6 categories consisting of various aspects of the teacher preparation curricula. Along with this suggestions were sought regarding the curricula.
It is hoped that this study could be a valuable source of information for determining the kind of changes required and the type of curricula provided in the Colleges of Education in the years ahead. The present study was not exhaustive, nevertheless it is hoped that this study could form the basis for further analysis and investigation. The results revealed that secondary pre-service teachers though have favourable attitude towards the curricula but is not the most favourable one. They need certain changes in the curricula on the basis of their experiences with the course.
