The present study focused on the relationship between teacher efficacy and teaching competency among secondary school teachers in Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh, India. Teachers’ efficacy refers to the results on teacher gets, or the amount of progress of the pupils towards certain learning objectives. Effectiveness of teacher is viewed in terms of his success bringing out deserted learning outcomes. Thus teacher efficacy can be defined as a product of the interaction between certain teacher characteristics and the teaching learning situations. Teaching competency is the knowledge, abilities and beliefs of a teacher, processes and brings to the teaching situation.
The data were collected from 224 secondary school teachers working in 37 secondary schools in Vizinagaram District by using the teacher efficacy scale developed and constructed by Peri (1983) and teaching competency scale previously developed and standardized by Pakalapati (2004). The data were analyzed by using the statistical procedures like means, standard deviations, critical ratio's values and rvalues. The results were discussed according to the significant values obtained. Based on the results certain conclusions were drawn. On overall observation of the study, some implications were mentioned.
