Educational research is under serious criticism on the ground of its relevance for theory- based actions. At the same time the action research as a form of research meant for the teachers for modification and improvement of their praxis has not gained popularity among the teachers. The present paper discuss the research approach based on the collaboration between the educational researcher and the school based teachers that will help in the establishment of the relevance of educational research in terms of its utility and that will help the teachers in their professional development through their engagement as partner in the research venture. The paper further deliberates over the possible impediments towards the realization of such partnership and the measures that could promote the same. The paper presents a theoretical framework for such research activity that further warrants deliberation on a wider scale with empirical studies that could throw light on the theoretical framework proposed.
