Abstract

Brain-based education is an approach of learning based on the working of human brain. It proposes certain strategies based on the principles derived from understanding of brain. Amidst vast speculations and controversies, brain research is constantly engaged in providing a supporting framework to confirm the theoretical knowledge generated by many education-related disciplines. Brain-based education has emerged into a multidisciplinary approach that can inform the educational practices in collaboration with other learning sciences. The validity of neuroscience research in informing actual educational practices is gradually been explored by the educators. Basically, there are 12 principles of brain-based education. These principles have a firm neurological foundation and are expected to provide a rejuvenating frame work to the educator in making significant shifts in their perspectives on instruction, assessment and knowledge construction. National Curricular Framework For Teacher Education 2010 is built on the contemporary contexts, concerns and vision of teacher education substantiated by the educational initiatives so far. The framework envisages reformative strategies pertaining to all components and levels of the educational system. The present article is an attempt to explore and highlight the elements of brain-based education in the NCFTE 2010.A brief discussion on the scope, concerns and principles of brain-based education is included to familiarize the concept
