Job satisfaction is one of the most discussed and researched work attitudes in organizational behavior. The amount of interest in this work attitude can be attributed to the potential organizational and personal benefits of satisfied employees in terms of higher productivity, more customer satisfaction, better corporate image, bigger profits, lower turnover, absenteeism and accidents, better quality life of employees etc. However, Job Satisfaction still remains a tricky issue owing to the often different and opposite conclusions regarding the effect of various factors on Job satisfaction. This article proposes to present the concept in a clearer light. The article discusses the important theories of job satisfaction as well as the various content, context and personal factors of job satisfaction and their effects as revealed by various studies on the topic. The article also comprehensively puts forward the various scales and measurements developed and used overtime to measure employees Job Satisfaction levels.
