This review paper presents the results of studies made by different workers on various aspects of ramie (Boehmeria nivea Gaud) crop particulary on genetic resource, breeding, morphology, anatomy, cytology, physiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, biotic stress factors, tolerance to abiotic stress, cultural practices, mineral nutrition, productivity, fibre extraction and quality.
