In light of growing demand and production of crude oil in India, the current paper attempts to look at energy sector particularly at the oil and gas segment. While the consumption has increased over the years, the production has been stagnant leading to energy deficit. However the dismal situation seems to be improving under the current government, especially with deregulation of diesel process and efforts to increase production. The paper looks at the measures taken by the government in order to increase productivity both at home as well as abroad, and other recent trends in the oil and gas segment.
