Abstract

In today's globalized world, knowledge management has become an indispensable part of the functioning of any organization. Individuals tend to hold knowledge for various reasons, personality being one of the most important factors. This research aims to study the role of personality in knowledge-sharing behavior with emphasis on management students who are the future managers. Management institutes, being mini laboratories providing experiential learning to their students, have assimilated knowledge creation, acquisition and sharing as part of their continuous learning process. Knowledge management models have now become a part of the curricula. Big-Five Taxonomy, that include extraversion, neuroticism, openness to experience, agreeableness and conscientiousness, is considered as one the most stable taxonomies in classifying personality traits andhas, thus, been used in the study. The study aims to understand the role of Big Five Personality traits in knowledge sharing behaviour in the context of management institutes. Survey data were collected from 352 management students from Delhi NCR. The results indicate that extraversion, agreeableness and openness tintention. The findings provide several important theoretical and practicalo experience positively affect the knowledge sharing regarding the role of personality onthe knowledge-sharing intentions in the context of management education. The of these findings and suggestions for future research are also discussed in the paper.
