Abstract

Foodtech is the hot talk in India. Start-ups in this space have changed the Indian food and beverage industry. Indian entrepreneurs have gained insights into this space by adopting various models that meet the demand and the supply which will eventually help in bridging the gap between the foodies and the chefs. They have understood the needs of the busy population and presented them with plethora of opportunities for breakfast, lunch, dinner, beverages, snacks, and salads. Start-ups in this space such as Holachef, Tinyowl, Yummist, Faasos, etc. have emerged by adopting different models that create value which will ultimately lead to success. Boston Consulting Group (BCG) anticipates that the market size of food industry in India is estimated to reach Rs. 42 thousand billion by 2020 from Rs. 23 thousand billion in 2014. The following case focusses on Holachef that boasts of investors such as Ratan Tata. Holachef is a food-tech start-up by Saurabh Saxena and Anil Gelra, which aims to create efficiencies in the supply chain by making ordering and order management easy for consumers with technology as an enabler.
