Maruti Suzuki India is a leading automobile manufacturer in India. It was a subsidiary of Japanese automobile manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corporation. It has experience of being associated with a trusted brand and enjoyed rapid growth since its inception. In 2011–12, sales of Maruti declined as a result of strikes and violence at its Manesar plants. It was an outcome ofits relations with its labour, supervisor and leaders. The case describes how can a leader contributes to numerous problemsand turn around through developing better work culture, relationship and business strategy after the violence. The case also highlights the anxiety during leadership transition.
