Abstract

Nendran is an indigenous banana variety produced in Kerala. This variety of banana is consumed both as a fruit and avegetable. Nendran chips is very popular in South India and is sold across India and other countries. Despite being the leadingproducer of Nendran Banana, Star Chips Private Ltd. are not the leader in chips production. The case is based on a projectconducted to identify the issues and suggest solutions to the businesses involved in Nendran chips. The case focuses onanalyzing the major constraints faced in supply chain, labour problem, inventory management of chips producers and sellers. Product differentiation, innovation, vacuum frying method, cost effective transportation, zero inventory were some key issues identified from a survey.
