Invasive alien species posing threat to global biodiversity: A review study

Alien species, after becoming locally dominant, invade natural communities and become Invasive Alien Species. Invasive Alien Species are posing threat to our biodiversity, including decline or elimination of native species through competition, predation, or transmission of pathogens and the disruption of local ecosystems and ecosystem functions. These species exacerbate poverty and threaten development. This review focus mainly on the importance of biodiversity, the consequences faced by the plants, animals, humans and ecosystem owing to invasion of alien species and possible strategies used to control invasive species which will lead to strengthening of ecosystem resilience and improve the ability of ecosystem. Therefore, some management initiatives should be taken for mitigating such changes. Also, more research work needs to be carried out to monitor the trend of invasiveness and susceptibility of biodiversity.
