Abstract

This paper is an attempt to highlight the trend of education in the Chandel district. Chandel is located in the southern part of Manipur. It is 3313sq.kms in area with 144,182 populations in 2011. It is one of the least literate districts in Manipur. In this paper, an attempt has been made to examine the slow development process of education and the factors responsible for it. The paper also gives some suggestions to improve the present educational condition.
