Solid waste management is now one of the major problems in urban centres around the world. Thishas become more critical with rapidly increasing growth of urban population, industries and changing life style of urban dwellers. Most of the municipal authorities are facing trouble to maintain equilibrium between the amountsof waste generated with its proper management. Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is also stricken bythe problem from various corners regarding solid waste management such as collection, storage, transportation, and disposal and so on. The present paper is about the case study which has been done at ward number 115 of KMC by analyzing the current management practices of solid waste to identify the achievements and challenges of this ward.
