Abstract

Education is an instrument in shaping the country's economy, personal and society's growth and progress which expanded human capabilities that lie at the heart of development. Even though it is a key to development, disparity of educational development may perhaps provoke inequality that affects national development. The present paper attempted to find out the educational development at the level of village, intra and inter rural development block by using Standardized Score, Principal Component Analysis and Factor Analysis through Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS). A total 1,678 household (25 per cent households) selected to obtain primary data from 20 villages and towns in Lawngtlai District. It finds that the education development disparity prevails in the study area mainly because of absence of school and higher education in far-flung areas. Most of the administrative and block centers with it surrounding villages acquire better educational facilities while the remote, isolated and inaccessibility areas backward in the education sector.
