Abstract

The present study attempts to find out the perception of college students towards the semester system with reference to their locale. Based on the geographical phenomena, samples from both urban and rural areas were gathered. The study involved 823 undergraduate college students from various colleges affiliated to Mizoram University. The main objective of the study is to find out the overall perception of the respondents on semester system and their perception towards five components of semester system -general observation, course of study, evaluation, method of teaching and choice based credit system. The findings of the study reveal that rural students had a more favourable perception on semester system than the urban students.
