Change in climatic variables had been observed since the 20th century and these changes have a significant impact on the agricultural sector which could result to food shortage and malnutrition in developing countries like India and third-world countries. These climatic variables such as rainfall, humidity and temperature has increased and decreased the crop productivity at any given area worldwide. Farmers observed that due to these changing variables, the agricultural activities had to be adapted and resulted in the change of certain commercial plantation. This study involves the assessment of impact of climatic variables on the production of maize in Mizoram, India for the past 34 years which showed a significant impact on maize production using secondary data. plantation of early maturing varieties and proper irrigation facilities could mitigate the change in maize production.
