Abstract

Residential quality has significant impact on the well-being and academic performance of students. Satisfaction with hostel accommodation in higher educational institutions plays a vital role in shaping the overall experience of campus life. The present study focuses on student's residential satisfaction in various hostels of Mizoram University. Principal components analysis is employed to measure satisfaction index. The study observed that Senhri Hostel has scored the highest satisfaction value, followed by Zamzo Hostel and Dingdi Hostel. The least satisfaction value was observed among the hostellers of Chalfilh hostel. Subsequently, among the significant parameters of student's residential satisfaction, services and maintenance of hostel authority has the highest mean score followed by room lighting, department and hostel administration which suggests that students generally find these aspects satisfactory. On the contrary, indicators like water supply, internet facilities and services, transportation, bathroom, sports and building infrastructures have scored relatively lower in the hostellers’ residential satisfaction.
