Common Property Resources (CPR) is also a type of Natural Resources that are not under the possession of any particular individual rather such resources are possessed by a group of individuals or by a community as a whole. Since the origin of the concept of CPR, there have been several debates over the issue of their management. Many theories have been propounded expanding the conceptual base of CPR but issues relating to their management still exist for their better conservation and efficient utilization. At present, the worldfraternity has adopted the concept of sustainable development after witnessing the destruction made to the environment by the human civilization in the quest for economic development. And to achieve the objectives of sustainable development, 17 goals were fixed to be reached before 2030. However, some of these goals are also relevant for better management of CPR which will be highlighted in this paper. Further, the issue regarding who shall manage such CPRS in India, this paper has highlighted the shortcomings in the present management system of CPR by the State, thereby advocating community management of CPR for better conservation and sustainable utilization of such resources to achieve some of the vital SDGS in India.
