Abstract

This study investigated the effect of WeChat-guided Kegel exercises on compliance and self-efficacy in preventing postpartum urinary incontinence and aiding pelvic floor muscle recovery. Employing one-group and two-group pretest-posttest designs, the research evaluated the impact of a postpartum exercise intervention on new mothers. The control group received routine postpartum education, while the experimental group received Kegel exercise guidance through WeChat. Maternal feelings were also explored using various questionnaires, including the Demographic Information Questionnaire, Compliance Questionnaire, Self-efficacy Questionnaire, and Kegel Knowledge Level Test. Data were analyzed using percentage distribution, mean ± standard deviation (x±S), and both paired and independent sample t-tests. Results indicated significant compliance and self-efficacy scores differences between the experimental and control groups post-intervention. The experimental group showed notable improvements in these scores compared to their pre-test results. First-time mothers often struggle with pelvic floor muscle recovery post-childbirth due to inexperience. WeChat-guided Kegel exercises provide reminders, address concerns, and boost confidence, effectively enhancing exercise compliance and self-efficacy. This convenient method proves beneficial in supporting new mothers through postpartum recovery, highlighting the potential of digital health interventions in maternal care.
