Exploring the Workload and Burnout of Health Care Professionals

Workload is a critical factor affecting healthcare professionals and has significant implications for their job performance, job satisfaction, and overall well-being. In the healthcare sector, workload often refers to the volume of tasks, the number of patients, administrative duties, and the complexity of clinical responsibilities that professionals are required to manage.

The study made use of the descriptive-correlational research design which was conducted in Asia Pacific Medical Center in Kalibo, Aklan. This involves the selection and utilization of standardized tools and instruments to measure workload and burnout.

High mental demand suggests that professionals face complex cognitive tasks, decision-making pressures, and intellectual challenges in their roles. High physical demand indicates that the job requires substantial physical exertion, potentially involving long hours, manual labor, or physically demanding tasks.

The findings regarding burnout reveal moderate levels among respondents, particularly in emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, which are indicative of the strain and detachment healthcare professionals may experience in their roles.
