Abstract

This research paper represents a comprehensive study of the knowledge management practices in supply chain at the strategic level and attempts to develop a flexible strategic framework for knowledge management with the perspective of continuity and change for guiding the industry for survival and growth. The results of the study clearly demonstrates that the flexible strategic framework for KM with perspective of continuity and change in supply chain has provided specific strategic direction to each company studied depending upon its score on each KM factor on Continuity and Change Matrix developed. Each of the company studied can take a specific flexible strategic direction for improving its supply chain depending upon the score on each KM factor for continuity and change forces. This framework can be used by a company to identify, capture, analyze and share both explicit and tacit knowledge on each KM factor with its supply chain partners for sustainable competitive advantage. A case study of KM in supply chain management of lighting industry validating the framework suggested has also been discussed.
