Abstract

Beach profiles are changing as a result of erosion and coastal sediment transport. By modeling the seabed depth profile as the power functions of distance from the beach, the effect of beach erosion upon dispersing the outfall steady discharges plume is investigated. As the erosion increases the concentration levels at the beach, a formula to estimate the near-shore outfall extension that minimizes the impact of disposing effluents into the sea is given.
