Abstract

Main purpose of the study was to find out effect of televiewing of violent television programme on children. In order to control possible effects of viewing violent television programmes, those subjects who have not watched violent TV programmes for the last four weeks were contacted. One hundred students of 4th and 5th classes acted as subjects. Fifty subjects were randomly assigned to experimental condition and remaining Ss to control group. Experimental Ss watched aggressive cartoon while control Ss watched nonaggressive cartoon. All subjects wrote three short stories immediately after exposure to TV programme. They were interviewed as well. Content analysis of stories reveals that those children who watched violent TV theme expressed greater number of violent imageries than their counter-parts.
