Abstract

Self-concept is very much essential in the development of personality of an individual. It is high time the teachers and parents realize the importance of self concept and make the child realize his potentials and make him believe that he is very much important and has a specific role to play on the stage of this world. Self concept enhances the personality of an individual and leads him to high self esteem. Every child is a “tara zameen par” and the only need is that the teacher should identify his hidden potential. Thus education has a great role to play in polishing the talents of children through self-concept. Self-concept is not an inherited one, it is learnt and developed through interaction with the different components of the environment. So the education should create a congenial and conducive environment, which promotes high selfconcept among the children.
