Attitude of tribal students of Arunachal Pradesh towards hindi language

Abstract

The main aim of this paper is to promote Ambedkharism in the contemporary era. Thereby, investigation was done to measure the attitude of tribal students towards Hindi language. Based on the requirement of the study undertaken, a sample of 100 students were selected randomly from the Govt. Hr. Sec. Schools of Upper Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh with Normative Survey method. The Tools used were self developed tools for measuring students’ attitude towards Hindi and to compare their attitudes towards Hindi and tribal languages. With the use of percentage, a highly positive attitude of tribal students towards Hindi language was measured. Besides, by using t-test, it was also measured that no significant difference was found between the attitudes of tribal students towards Hindi and tribal languages. Interestingly, the investigator had collected some points on suggestions for the promotion of Hindi language from the tribal students which included-Inclusion of Hindi as compulsory subject, Organization of workshop, conference, seminar, symposium etc. on the importance of Hindi, Hindi-as the medium of instruction, Extra Hindi classes outside the regular class schedules, Celebration of Dr. Ambedkar's Birthday, Recruitment of good and sufficient number of Hindi teachers, Regular conduction of essay competition and poem recitation in Hindi language, Giving special award to the toppers in Hindi subject and soon.
