Abstract

Education for a Sustainable Future (ESF) plays a pivotal role in fostering environmental stewardship, social equity, and economic responsibility, particularly in the context of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes the holistic development of students, blending sustainability with experiential and value-based learning to prepare global citizens. This study explores the critical role of teachers' soft skills, personality traits, and work motivation in advancing ESF, proposing actionable strategies that align NEP 2020 with sustainable educational practices. The findings highlight that teachers' competencies significantly impact students' ethical reasoning, critical thinking, and eco-conscious behaviour, which is crucial for building sustainable communities.
