Abstract

The studies of personality and teacher effectiveness have been a subject of fascinating research during the past two three decades or so. Teaching efficiency depends upon teacher's morale. In the present investigation personality dimensions of a teacher with reference to morale was studied. Teacher's morale is considered, one of the most important criteria or predictor for teacher effectiveness. Morale is conceived as an effect related to succesful interaction among individual needs and organizational goals. The study indicates that there is significant relationship between teacher's morale and extroversion dimension of personality. The teacher's morale seems to have negetive relationship with neuroticism dimension. The sex variable seems to have no influence on the relationship between teacher's morale and extroversion/neuroticism. Also academic disciplines have no influence on the relationship of teacher's morale and extroversion/neuroticism. The findings may be basis for developing the criteria for screening the student teacher's for admission, developing new curriculum and courses for teacher education and for developing teacher morale considering the personality variation among student teachers.
