Spelling errors in English language: a comparative study between English & Hindi medium students

Abstract

The language plays a vital role in education and helps an individual to build up their impressive personality in society. The paper deals with the Comparative Study of Spelling Errors in English Language Committed by Students of Hindi and English Medium Schools of Grade V For this study a sample of 300 students was taken. The result shows that the mean of errors of Hindi medium students is more as compared to that of English medium students or can say that Hindi medium students commit more spelling errors in English language as compared to English medium students. The obtained value is significant at 0.01 levels of significance. There exists a significant difference between Hindi medium and English medium students as far as committing spelling errors in English language are concerned. Thus from this study we conclude that English medium students fare better than Hindi medium.
