Abstract

It is universally acknowledged that Education is an effective means of social reconstruction. It has to be relevant to the needs and aspiration of people living in the fast changing society. Population education is a potential tool for creating awareness, proper understanding, attitude and interests in regard to population problems for ensuring well being of the family in particular and of the society or the country in general. It helps the individual in making rational decisions, because uncontrolled population is the chronic problem and the future of the vast country rest on the knowledge of this subject. There is, therefore, Need to educate children at an early age, much before they mature, on the implications of population change. If the child understands the consequences of population change for herself/himself, the society, the country and the world, she/he is likely to be more receptive to the family planning services at a later time. Therefore Integration in the Teacher Education Curriculum is need of the hour. The paper analyses the need, importance and issues of Integration of Population Education in Teacher Education. The paper also suggests measures to integrate population education in teacher education curriculum. The chronic problem of uncontrolled population could be effectively solved by Integration and effective implementation of Population Education in Teacher Education
