Emotions play a vital role in the over all development of a child from infancy till his adulthood stage. These are continuously growing and keep on changing in the learners through out life. Emotions are pervasive in our day–to-day life and affect children and adults the way they think, learn, feel, act or behave. Daily experiences are saturated with emotions like frustrations loneliness, enjoyment, love interest etc. Student can become more effective when they are emotionally literate. They develop behaviour skills, appriciating their use in interacting with others effectively. Today, school are under intense pressure to provide safe, orderly and effective class – room – teaching- learning process through better environment, where Students can acquire social, emotional and academic skills. Students come from different social- strata of the society where they bring with them their own socio–economic aculturation, values, customs, traditions and behavioural responses. The present article elaborates upon devloping emotional and social competence through school and school environment emphasizing the role of social skills and enchancing student behaviour through devloping emotional and social competence.
