When referring to the preparation of youth and adults for future, a subtle shift in language, communication, creative thinking, and emotional intelligence etc. can be observed. Today the discussion has shifted from conversation about education to talking about skills. In a globalised society, skills development is a much broader concept involving a larger variety of skills, so becoming a more challenging task to monitor. Life skills are not always taught directly but often learned indirectly through experience and practice. Social sciences play pivotal role in developing and managing life skills by creating continuously interactive environment. This paper majorly highlights the concept of life skills that suits constructive needs of the learner, needs for developing such skills and significance of social sciences in fostering these skills in forthcoming generation.
