Social intelligence, aggressive behaviour, and psychological problems among scheduled caste students of rural schools

Abstract

Social intelligence is thee ability to deal effectively and tactfully with large numbers of other brains, successfully and simultaneously. Aggressive behaviour is being increased and affected by psychological problems. A study on social intelligence, aggression and psychological problems among SC students in Kerala is very essential.

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between and among the variables-social intelligence, aggression and psychological problems. As a secondary objective comparisons are made between different sub samples.

Through multi stage cluster and then simple random techniques are used in this study. 300 SC students form the main sample (49% Boys and 51% Girls). 43 Non-SC students are selected purposively for the comparison purposes.

Survey method, in specific co relational method is used; along with a specific number of interviews have been conducted.

There is no significant difference between SC and Non-SC students in their social intelligence. Psychological problems play a significant role in aggressive behaviour of SC students. The relationship between aggressive behaviour and psychological problems is insignificant in all the cases except that of students with working mothers. A significant negative relationship is found between social intelligence and aggressive behaviour in all the cases.
