Higher education is meant for development of student's capacity to enquire and seek truth regarding contemporary issues of the society, thus enabling them to become good citizens. Considering core values of NAAC in respect of role of higher education, inculcating value system in students is also one of the main responsibilities of higher education institutes. This core value becomes more vital in case of teacher education institutes. One of the emerging concerns of the society is loss of values in young generation. Researcher is of the view that education for values is of utmost importance and should be recognised as most required practice of higher education institutes and be taken as one of the criteria of quality assurance and evaluation. Therefore an attempt has been made to find out the opinions of teacher educators regarding possible strategies of building an appropriate environment for value inculcation in teacher trainees in order to enhance the quality of students as ‘would be teachers’ and thereby quality of teacher education institutes. The present research work has been qualitatively analysed and on the basis of findings, suggestions for the practicable indicators for quality assurance in the same area have also been proposed.
