A cross district disparity at primary level (An analysis of the selected districts of Uttar Pradesh)

Abstract

Education, the most important lever for social, economic and political transformation, is essential in the twenty-first century as for economic and social development a well-educated population, equipped with the relevant knowledge, attitudes and skills is needed. It provides skills and competencies for economic well-being and strengthens democracy by imparting to citizens the tools needed to fully participate in the governance process. Primary education is the foundation of the education system on which the development of whole nation depend. Thus, for the present study, the investigator tried to analyze the expansion of educational facilities at primary level as primary level is the base of elementary education, and progress should be made from the base. As Uttar Pradesh is the most populous and educationally backward state of India having more than 70 districts, so for this study Uttar Pradesh was selected for cross districts analysis and districts were considered as the basic unit.
