Software size estimation using function points

Abstract

Functional point analysis is a method to estimate the software size in the beginning phase of software development life cycle. To measure software size by using functional point is discuss in this paper. There are various ways to find the software size like line of code (LOC) but functional point is better than LOC in calculation of software size estimation. Nowadays Functional point analysis (FPA) is mostly used in academic researchers and growing acceptance in practice. The Aim of the technique is to measure the functionality that the software provides to the user regardless of technology used for its implementation. In this paper, the goal is to present an empirical study that designed to understand the reliability of functional point measurement.
