Solid waste management (SWM) is one of the basic utilities, to protect the environment, to protect the public health services or issues and improve the productivity. Solid waste has become a threat to the environment, both in developed countries and in the countries which is under development. Therefore, to get or achieve a clean and healthy environment, the SWM system must be properly managed. In this context, this report consists of review of SWM system of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The study area we have chosen is the municipality area of the Saharanpur. The present population of the city is 7.05 lakhs. This dissertation work considers the entire SWM system in municipality area of the district Saharanpur. It was noted that the current SWM system applied in Saharanpur is not managed properly. The proposed waste management strategies of the solid waste in this work are an improvement in the existing management system. Taking into account all the issues and factors, it provides some recommendations for the development of a sustainable SWM system for the future. The proposed system can be improved by following the list of recommendations. Finally, a set of recommendations is envisaged for laying the foundations of a good SWM system in the city of Saharanpur [3].
