Abstract

In recent years the rotational moulding process for plastics has become more sophisticated in terms of equipment design and the complexity of the moulded products. Rotomoulding is a four-phase process, which comprises loading, heating, cooling, and unloading the mould. In this paper we have design "Bi-Axial Roto Moulding Machine" which is motor driven and the material used for the product was plaster of paris. The axis of rotation gave an even deposition of the liquid POP on the inside wall of the desirous pattern. Rotational moulding, also known as roto-casting or roto-moulding, is a low pressure, high temperature manufacturing method for producing hollow, one-piece plastic parts. It can be used to produce open or closed items with dimensions that can start from diameters as small as 25–50 mm. and parts can be moulded with thicknesses starting from 1.0 mm up to 50mm.and it can be used for the production of 50,000 - 100,000 parts/year. It also reduces scrap by 85%,decreases cycle time,overall safety through 5 "S",achieve and maintain a minimum of 1.33 CPK of all critical to quality parameters and reduce defect rates through proper quality standards (Quality Management).
