In present paper, an experimental study of optimum feed-hole position of plain journal bearing with SAE 10W hydraulic oil carried is out. The Journal bearing test rig is used to test the 80 mm diameter and 80 mm long bearing (l/d = 1) build of gun metal. Test bearing is located between two antifriction bearings and loaded mechanically. The space between the journal and the bearing is filled with SAE 10W base oil. Three constant loads of 250 gm, 500 gm are applied at various journal rotational speeds of 800, 1100 rpm. Various parameter like bearing temperature and pressure were measured from 16 different sensors located alternatively at circumferential direction of bearing. Various supply angles that have been considered are 0°, 10°, 20° and 30°. From the experimental study it is found that 30° lubricant supply angle is better in comparison to other supply angles. The experimental plot of pressure distribution vs circumferential angle indicate that as the load increases maximum film pressure also increases. It is observed that 30° location of the maximum pressure for given operating condition is closer to predicted value.
